Apparently as much about for-profit Twitter as “A Twitter for My Sister”
The most important part of the Twitter redesign for marketers is the new, enhanced profile functionality. It gives them a “much richer canvas,” as Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said earlier today. The new brand profile pages are available to a limited number of companies now but will be rolling out more broadly in the coming weeks.
In addition to the customizable background, the top of the page now allows more brand identity content.

The world has watched the lives of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore unfold on Twitter every day since January 2009. The couple are among the microblogging service’s most popular users; Kutcher’s @AplusK account has more than 8.3 million followers, while Moore’s account, @MrsKutcher, has more than 4.2 million.
Moore publicly announced Thursday that she’s divorcing Kutcher, but made no mention on her account.

Spotify investor and former Facebook President Sean Parker had some harsh words for his favorite social network: its problem isn’t privacy, it’s that some of its most active users are leaving for other services.
“”The threat to Facebook is that power users have gone to Twitter or Google+,” Parker told the Web 2.0 Summit — because, he says, Facebook isn’t giving them enough ways to manage a glut of information.
